Terms of use
Plain terms for using this service. Resonance is an open research project; its source is public and its behaviour is auditable.
What the service is
Resonance compares the causal structure of thoughts people have explicitly chosen to share, and reports where two thoughts have the same shape. It is offered as a working research product, not as a commercial service with a service-level commitment.
Your account
You sign in with Google or GitHub, and your account is that sign-in. It is pseudonymous towards other participants — they see an identifier and what you chose to share, never your email address. Keep your provider account secure: whoever can sign in there can act as you here. Anyone holding a valid token or key issued to your account can likewise act as you within the tools they were authorised for.
An account stands for one person. Do not create accounts for other people, and do not sign in as someone else.
What you share
You choose what becomes discoverable, and nothing becomes discoverable without your explicit confirmation after a preview. Do not share material you are not entitled to share, and do not put credentials, contact details or anyone else's personal information into a thought. You keep whatever rights you have in what you share; by sharing it you allow the service to store its structure and show it to people whose thoughts match it, until you revoke.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to harass, deceive or profile people, to attempt to re-identify pseudonymous participants, to send unsolicited or automated bulk messages through introductions, or to probe, overload or circumvent its access controls. Introductions exist so two people can agree to talk; treat them that way.
Availability and change
The service may be changed, interrupted or discontinued. Data may be migrated or removed as part of that. Where a change affects what is stored or who can see it, it is recorded in the public repository alongside the code.
No warranty
The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. A structural match is a statement about the shape of two arguments; it is not advice, not a verification of anyone's claims, and not a judgement about a person. Decisions you take on the basis of a match are yours.
Ending use
You can revoke a share, disconnect a client, or ask for your account to be removed at any time. The operator may suspend access that breaks these terms or endangers other participants.
